Driscoll’s Blueberries, Automated PCND Drip Irrigation System, China Location: China Application: Agricultural irrigation Water source: Reservoir water Solution: Automated PCND drip irrigation system Background Driscoll’s is a leading international producer of berries. This 20 hectare site located in a sub-tropical, mountainous area valley plain is used to grow blueberries for the company. There was no existing irrigation system. Challenge Driscoll’s Blueberries needed a way to achieve consistent fertilization of its plants through very short irrigation intervals. The challenge was to ensure that every drop of water contained the essential nutrients required, and that all plants received the same balance of water and fertilization. Previous Next Solution We designed and installed an automated PCND fertilization and irrigation dripper system to precisely deliver nutrients and water directly to the roots of each plant. This included redesigning the layout of the company’s irrigation head. We also developed a fertilizer mixing system to create the perfect nutrient and water solution ready for injection. Results We have currently completed six out of nine phases of the project. To date the irrigation solution is functioning perfectly, saving Driscoll’s Blueberries time and optimizing the growing conditions for the plants.
